Accounting Manager

       The Accounting Manager is accountable for assisting the Director of Finance/Controller with the company financial processes and accounting operations of the company. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines; managing the A/P and A/R specialists; identifying and preventing discrepancies; helping set up control systems; maintaining current working knowledge of accounting principles; ability to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively; ensuring accurate financial reporting and control. There are supervisory responsibilities. 
 

Duties and Responsibilities
• Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, invoicing, tax forms, reporting etc.)
• Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS and official guidelines and requirements
• Manage journal entries and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing
• Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts • Participate in preparation for the annual audit
• Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies
• Maintaining standard costing and variances
• Utilize accounting IT system to facilitate processes and maintain records Supervisory Responsibilities
• Perform managerial responsibilities in accordance with Amiad policies and procedures as well as applicable laws
• Interview, hire, train and discipline employees
• Plan, assign and direct work • Approve time sheets while meeting deadline guidelines
• Work with employees to establish personal goals
• Conduct meetings with employees to provide feedback, assess progress, and resolve issues as needed
• Hold quarterly reviews with employees to update progress on annual goals and provide feedback
• Document and deliver annual performance appraisals
• Recommend performance awards and/or merit increases when appropriate
• Address performance problems through corrective action and dismissal while keeping an ongoing written record of performance problems • Deal with conflict between colleagues and between employees and customers. If a dispute arises, counsel the parties involved and use the company's best practices to mediate an acceptable resolution
• Develop and document department policies and procedures as needed Education and Experience
• Proven experience as assistant controller or other similar position • Solid knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and regulations
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.)
• Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software (SAP experience is a plus)
• Well-organized with ability to prioritize
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability • BS/BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is required Work Environment
• Professional office environment and occasional manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, grinding, vapor, dust and lubricants
• Routinely required to use standard office equipment
• Expected to be proficient with a variety of computer programs; including MS Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
• Must adhere to company safety policies and wear the required personal protective equipment as needed Physical Demands
• Required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to operate office equipment, talk, and hear • May occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 20 pounds
Pay is Salary of $75,000
